We put succession insight into leaders’ hands — a mobile, visual talent experience powered by SuccessFactors data.
The challenge
A global telecommunications organisation’s senior leadership team needed a better way to manage talent and succession planning. The standard HR system contained the required data, but it did not present that data in the visual, mobile and decision-oriented way leaders needed during talent reviews, boardroom discussions, travel or one-on-one conversations.
The challenge was to surface the right people insights at the right time without replacing the core HR platform. The solution needed to make organisational talent visible at a glance, support formal and informal talent conversations, and protect sensitive people data through appropriate access controls.
What we did
We designed and built a custom talent management application on SAP Business Technology Platform. The application consumed SuccessFactors data through standard APIs, bringing together employee profiles, organisational hierarchy, performance indicators, potential assessments and succession-readiness information.
The user experience was shaped around how senior leaders actually conduct talent conversations: navigating organisational structures, comparing talent across teams, drilling into individual profiles and identifying potential successors. The interface deliberately avoided exposing the broader administrative complexity of the HR system, focusing instead on the information that supports leadership decisions.
The application was designed to work across desktop, tablet and mobile devices, with caching and synchronisation patterns supporting responsive performance across large organisational datasets. Role-based access controls ensured sensitive data was only visible to authorised leaders within the appropriate organisational context.
What it delivered
The organisation gained a purpose-built leadership experience for talent visibility and succession planning. Leaders could access the people insight they needed in a clearer, more visual and more mobile form, while the underlying SuccessFactors landscape remained the system of record.
The solution improved the quality and speed of talent conversations by moving critical information out of dense HR screens and into an experience designed for decision-making. It gave leadership a sharper view of organisational capability, readiness and succession risk.
