We built a continuous-feedback experience for 100,000+ employees — turning recognition into a daily habit, not an annual HR process.
The challenge
A global telecommunications organisation wanted to shift its performance culture from formal, infrequent reviews to continuous recognition and constructive feedback. Annual and bi-annual cycles were too slow to reinforce positive behaviour, surface coaching moments, or make appreciation visible when it mattered.
The ambition was to make feedback feel as immediate and natural at work as rating, liking, and reviewing experiences had become in consumer life. To work at enterprise scale, the solution needed to be simple enough for everyday use, trusted enough for sensitive people data, and connected enough to sit naturally inside the existing HR ecosystem.
What we did
We designed and built the Instant Feedback application on SAP Business Technology Platform, with deep integration into SuccessFactors. The solution used BTP services for application hosting, identity and access control, and API-based access to employee profile and organisational data.
The application was intentionally designed around peer-to-peer feedback rather than hierarchy-dependent workflows. Any employee could recognise, thank, or provide constructive input to a colleague, helping feedback move across teams, regions, and reporting lines. The user experience kept the process deliberately lightweight: guided prompts, responsive design, and calibrated notifications encouraged participation without creating noise.
Security and privacy were treated as core design requirements. Visibility rules governed who could see each type of feedback and in what context, while iterative testing with representative user groups helped validate that the experience was intuitive, constructive, and fit for global scale.
What it delivered
The application created a scalable foundation for continuous feedback across a workforce of more than 100,000 people. It gave employees a simple way to recognise contribution and share constructive observations in the moment, while ensuring the feedback data remained connected to the broader SuccessFactors landscape.
The bigger outcome was cultural. Feedback became easier to give, easier to receive, and less dependent on formal review cycles — supporting a more visible culture of recognition, learning, and growth across the organisation.
